\"zoom-60046564-3\"<\/a>Nothing compares with the giants found in Cueva de los Cristales, or Cave of Crystals. The limestone cavern and its glittering beams were discovered in 2000 by a pair of brothers drilling nearly a thousand feet below ground in the Naica mine.<\/p>\n

One of Mexico’s most productive, yielding tons of lead and silver each year. The brothers were astonished by their find, but it was not without precedent. The geologic processes that create lead and silver also provide raw materials for crystals, and at Naica.<\/p>\n

Mminers had hammered into chambers of impressive, though much smaller, crystals before. But as news spread of the massive crystals discovery, the question confronting scientists became: How did they grow so big.<\/p>\n

Hinduist temple in Jodhpur Rajasthan – India<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"zoom-63938647-3\"<\/a>With 8,000 square feet of indoor area, the church building was inspired by the Basilica of St. Peter in 1989. Although seem small, it can accommodate up to 18,000 people inside.<\/p>\n

Considered a landmark and faith, the church building was dedicated to the sacred heart of Jesus, completed in 1969. Before the construction, it had been already interrupted twice by world wars. The basilica is located in Brussels, and measures 8,000 m\u00b2.<\/p>\n

Agios Stefanos St Stefan Monastery on Meteora cliff – Greece<\/span><\/h3>\n

It was built between 2004 to 2007 in the village of Fatima in Portugal, where there appeared to some devotees. Its decor was inspired by Byzantine art and Orthodox. Its inner area is 8,700 m\u00b2.<\/p>\n

Built through donations from pilgrims, the basilica took 10 years to get ready (1994-2004). The church, Roman Catholic, is in Lichen Stary Poland. It has an internal area of ??10,090 m\u00b2.<\/p>\n

Temple Vat Visounnarath in Luang Prabang<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"zoom-65639031-3\"<\/a>Situated in Liverpool it is the second largest Anglican Church in the world. It had been construction, between 1904 and 1978, was inspired by the Gothic Revival style. It has internal area of ??9,687 m\u00b2, has a maximum capacity of up to 5,800 people.<\/p>\n

The most famous Gothic church in Europe is in Italy. Its structure and finishing took nearly six centuries to be what it is today. It is one of the main cards of Milan, references in architecture, art and literature.<\/p>\n

Great Novgorod Yaroslavovo dvorishche – Russia<\/span><\/h3>\n

The shrine, built between 1946-1980, receives up to 10 million visits per year. Inside fit 45-70 thousand devotees, in a space of 12,000 m\u00b2. The basilica is in Aparecida.<\/p>\n

The Basilica of St. Peter is considered the mother church of the Roman Catholic Church and one of the holiest places for Catholics. Tradition says that below the altar is the tomb of Peter, one of the twelve apostles of Christ, and considered the first pope of the Catholic Church.<\/p>\n

Cave of Crystals, located in Mexico<\/h3>\n

\"zoom-43964884-3\"<\/a>n a nearly empty cantina in a dark desert town, the short, drunk man makes his pitch. Beside him on the billiards table sits a chunk of rock the size of home plate. Dozens of purple and white crystals push up from it like shards of glass.<\/p>\n

“Yours for $300,” he says. “No? One hundred. A steal!” The three or four other patrons glance past their beers, thinking it over: Should they offer their crystals too? Rock dust on the green felt, cowboy ballads on the jukebox. Above the bar, a sign reads, “Happy Hour: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.”<\/p>\n

Myanmar Temple Thein Paya – India<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"zoom-50127290-3\"<\/a>This remote part of northern Mexico, an hour or so south of Chihuahua, is famous for crystals, and paychecks at the local lead and silver mine, where almost everyone works, are meager enough to inspire a black market. “Thirty dollars.”<\/p>\n

He leans in. “Ten.” It’s hard to take him seriously. Earlier in the day, in a cave deep below the bar, I crawled among the world’s largest crystals, a forest of them, broad and thick, some more than 30 feet long and half a million years old. So clear, so luminous, they seemed extraterrestrial. They make the chunk on the pool table seem dull as a paperweight.<\/p>\n

Small church<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"zoom-62964769-3\"<\/a>It takes 20 minutes to get to the cave entrance by van through a winding mine shaft. A screen drops from the van’s ceiling and Michael Jackson videos play, a feature designed to entertain visitors as they descend into darkness and heat.<\/p>\n

In many caves and mines the temperature remains constant and cool, but the Naica mine gets hotter with depth because it lies above an intrusion of magma about a mile below the surface. Within the cave itself, the temperature leaps to 112 degrees Fahrenheit.<\/p>\n

With 90 to 100 percent humidity hot enough that each visit carries the risk of heatstroke. By the time we reach the entrance, everyone glistens with sweat.<\/p>\n
